Welcome, this is my editorial life...
I started editing as an intern while in my final years of undergrad. I took on many memoirs and fiction pieces from self-publishing authors signed under indie publishers. This was a process I had been well-trained for, as my studies in creative writing required that I read and edit ten (10) short pieces every week (literally). I also studied professional writing, which taught me how to influence readers- bringing them closer to the writing and making them think about the material. Much of my studies were exciting because I could work with writers that had developed their personal techniques and style over years of practice. I also started building relationships with editors and literary agents. I went into graduate school to become a publishing professional that could represent BIPOC authors, of course! What was even more important to me,though, was the opportunity to describe books that showed the joys and peace of being a part of the BIPOC community. Much of the literary canon is not a space for joy, peace, and success for minorities. Which is to say that the hardships of the minority have been the bestsellers and shapers of societal norms and stereotypes... I digress. I knew I wanted to work with soft-life writers representing BIPOCs in their full spectrum. And so, now, that is my goal with the projects I will acquire!
My Manuscript Wishlist
Little Details...
My Dream Books:
As you can imagine, I take very seriously writing technique. I love writers with an abundance of style. So, I pay close attention to that when I read a manuscript; how a writer tells a story is essential to whether a reader starts a story and ends it is feeling like they were taken to an entirely new world! So, I look for that when I read a manuscript.

Fiction Wishes:
I am not going to act like I am not a bit conservative! I am an editor who adores soft-life stories. I love seeing a world that bonds over our commonalities. I love seeing BIPOCs in our full spectrum- peaceful, happy, joyous, ambitious, righteous, self-assured, afraid, stable, and with hardship! And I love discussions that are layered. I love to be able to see what the writer's intentions are without them saying anything. I do not believe everything has to be on the surface because that isn't how humans work. Although I try to read stories about mental health, growth, and the most beautiful mundane concepts, I tend to stick with stories that have even the simplest strand of romance. I am a huge romance fan, but I DO NOT CARE for sex or violence, which may be tough to deal with because so much of the trendy romance is made up of sex and violence. Even so, I tend to avoid those sub-concepts as much as possible. You can look at my sub-genres list to see what I am into for concepts.
My Dream Fiction Book:
A story about the life of a BIPOC woman as she travels around the world- encountering new perspectives on womanhood, love (friendship and romantic), and finding stability.
Or
A light-hearted friends-to-lovers romance between two wealthy BIPOCs.
Or
A market corporate novel where two young BIPOC people (a woman and a man, preferably) must find their place in the world that they want to be in. In the midst, she realizes about herself and who she is versus what everyone expects of them.

Nonfiction Dreams:
A great majority of my experience comes from working with memoirs. And I learned quickly that while I can take on the genre, it can be overwhelming. In the face of nonfiction, I am looking for more of the same soft-life work. I would love to work on books that teach me new skills and take me to a new culture. I would love work that gives me a different perspective, whether in occupations, countries, food, or culture.
My Dream Nonfiction Book:
A Black Woman Travel Book that talks about experiences outside of America and food!
Or
Essays about hobbies.
