PW &Friends
I spent the majority of 2023 working as a Publishers Weekly Extern under the BooklIfe department. My main role was to assist in curating special topic lists like the Indie Spotlights and First Lines. Over time my position allowed me to take on book reviews of indie authors and write personal pitched articles.
The Curator
A large part of my position was to curate the lists for some of PW's BookLife's biggest columns such as the Indie Spotlights and First Lines. This meant that I would review incoming books for an opportunity to be listed in PW's printed and digital magazines.
Booklife Prize and Other Reviews
The BookLife Prize is an Indie book competition that enlists book reviewers to read book submissions quickly. For the 2023 Booklife Prize Fiction and Non-Fiction Contest. I was a book reviewer and curated the judges' and Finalists' interviews- conducting research and writing up the interview questions.
Since this contest, I have been a book reviewer for both Booklife (Indie Books) and Publishers Weekly (Major Publishers' Books).
Small Pitches
Outside of my author's interviews and book reviews, I had an opportunity to pitch small article ideas and be featured in PW's print and digital magazine, Navigating A Reading Slump.
