Need-To-Knows:
What does a Book Proposal entail?
A Book Proposal is a well-developed and organized package that allows you to present your manuscript to the developmental editor. This package includes an author's bio, book description, and a reading sample! To know a bit more about book proposals, you can visit: The Indie Pages.
What are your prices for editing?
I follow the rates given by the Editorial Freelance Association:
Specific to my skill:
DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
Developmental editing, fiction: $46–$50/hr $.03–$.039/wd 4–6 pages/hr
Developmental editing, nonfiction: $51–$60/hr $.04–$.049/wd 4–6 pages/hr
Can we meet before you read my manuscript?
Sure! If you would like to meet, don't hesitate to email me with your availability. We can talk about any questions you may have about my process and what your goals are for your manuscript.
What is your payment process?
Depending on the length of your accepted manuscript, I will send you an invoice that may represent divided parts of your edited manuscript along with an editorial letter. The pricing of that invoice will more than likely be based on the hours spent editing (especially for novels or novellas). If your book is a children's book of some sort, you will be billed based on word count.
That invoice will come through email.
